The Stratos range of detectors are the only high sensitivity systems which are routinely applied to the protection of very dirty and dusty environments. This is achieved by using Laser Dust Discrimination (LDD) with a patented dust management and separator system. These features have greatly extended separator life service intervals. At the other extreme, Stratos-HSSD 2 is capable of providing the very highest levels of sensitivity in environments such as computer and clean rooms. In these applications it is able to sense the very smallest amounts of smoke. By using the latest semiconductor laser, electronic components and manufacturing techniques enable the Stratos-HSSD 2 system to be supplied and installed with a significantly lower whole-life cost then alternative high sensitivity systems. Stratos-HSSD 2 provides four alarm level outputs and a fault output to the fire alarm panel. When an addressable panel is used theAddressable Protocol Interface Card (APIC) is used to communicate using the addressable protocol. Using the APIC means that the alarm and fault relays can be used for other purposes. Up to 127 Stratos-HSSD 2 and Stratos-Micra detectors may be networked together using RS485 cabling and the Stratos-HSSD 2 has a built-in RS485 repeater that allows up to 1.2km between each detector. For improved fault-tolerance the RS485 may be looped using a Command Module which will give indication of the location of any cable breaks or shorts and maintain communication. When using a Command Module a single Addressable Protocol Interface Card (APIC) can signal the individual status of each detector back to a fire panel, greatly reducing interfacing cost and complexity. Stratos-HSSD 2 is supplied with comprehensive diagnostic facilities as standard, giving the capability of fault finding down to the individual component level. ClassiFire-3D may be viewed working in real time by attaching a PC running the remote software. You can also view a detailed chart recorder of historical smoke levels showing date, time and alarm thresholds. A reduced cost minimum display version of the Stratos-HSSD 2 is available. It has no on-board programmer and has only Fire 1, Fault and Ok indicators. A PC is required to install and commision the minimum display version. View the Stratos-HSSD 2 brochure or the Stratos-HSSD 2 Installers Handbook for more information. If you are experiencing difficulties with a Stratos-HSSD 2 try the Stratos-HSSD 2 troubleshooter.
